Against Teen Bullying

Bullying happens to over thousands of kids across the United States. Some kids feel the need to bully their classmates because they believe their peers are outkast or just do not fit in. I stand and say bullying should not be because it can cause students to become frightened and afraid to attend school everyday. School should be a safe environment for academic learning for everyone. At times when bullying takes place, the kids who were picked on can become violent towards their bully or maybe even commit suicide. Bullying consist of teasing, manipulating, and sometimes even physical violence. If children have to be exposed to that five days a week, they can begin to have low self-esteem and have a lack of confidence. Teen bullying has become one of the biggest issues here in the country.

  1. Teen bullying is a big issue in today's society. There is a fine line between a joke and bullying. I think that if students were more aware about where that line is that it would be less of a issue. Some students bully others on purpose but I have also seen were someone made a harmless joke that was then blown up. The other student that made the joke didn't mean to hurt the others feelings but thats what happened. If children were more informed about the harm in bullying at a younger age then it wouldn't be what it is today

  2. How do we know that teen bullying is more of a problem today than it was forty years ago? In my opinion, there is another factor involved, because there were always bullies. I do believe it is a problem, but kids will be kids and you can not change that. It is like criminals, you can arrest them all you want, but there is still another one waiting to fill their shoes. Is it really bullying that is the problem, or is it the society we live in? They are stopping teachers from grading in red ink because it could hurt the child's self esteem. I do not condone bullying, but it seems that society is breeding children to be wussies.

  3. I agree with Theo on this specific topic. Bullying starts at a young age, and if taught to not act a certain way starting early on then maybe kids would'nt be so care free about the way they treat people. Bullying is such an important issue because it affects not only kids but it can be carried out through adult ages, which is completely unessesary.

  4. Bullying is a huge issue and has always been through the years. However, it has gotten a lot worse. Perhaps, this is because of the more violent TV shows and moves children are watching today. Children today are exposed to a lot more violence and aggression than they were years ago. This might be the reason why teen bullying is so much more worse than it used to be. Children should be informed more about the effects of bullying and what it could do to a person. Maybe if they hear real life stories and empathize with their victims their actions might change.

  5. I don't really see how anyone one could oppose this. Obviously, teen bullying is wrong. The question is are schools and parents being proactive enough to prevent bullying. How society portrays it plays a very important role on how kids react to it. It does make me very sad when I hear about suicides that occur due to bullying. What infuriates me the most is internet harrassment. Children need to be taught how to stand up for themselves in situations where bullying occurs. If parents and teachers take the backseat and tell a child to "deal with it", it is only setting the child up for disapointment.

  7. Bullying is increasing tremendously throughout schools across America. In my opinion, I think bullying occurs because of the lack of discipline from the parents. If students were taught by their parents to treat others equally, then maybe bullying wouldn't occur as much. Teachers also play a role in the discipline, by teaching their students the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule states, " treat others as you want to be treated."

  8. I think that bullying starts at home. If at a young age you are not taught to respect others, treat them as you would want to be treated, and are taught what's right from wrong you may feel that its ok to mistreat others. Schools need to really get involved and try to come up with better consequences to stop bullying. for example, schools should put into to force harder consequences and punishments.

  9. Does anyone have any thing that states facts on the statistics of bullying? I believe it is a problem, but are you sure that it is worse than it was forty, fifty, or sixty years ago? Maybe, with all the informative resources we have today we just hear about it more. The media does like to report on negative things rather than positive, so that might be the reason we hear about it more. Media could just be trying to find more stories.

  10. Bullying is only getting worse over the years if parents don't teach their children how to respect others. Bullying is a very harmful action that people don't realize hurts kids in many ways. Bullying leads to suicide and that is ridiculous. Children who bully others should think to themselves, do i want to be treated this way? They should maybe think before they speak or act in a manor that hurts others.

  11. Bullying is a major issue in today's world. It does happen to many people all over the world and in every age group; it doesn't just happen to children in lower schools. Television or what goes on in a household can have some effect on the person. Respect should be shown at a young age and hopefully they continue to show that to one another.
